Monday 11th November 2024
This term our book is Street Child. See below for our topic web showing you what we are learning this term.
We have had a really busy few weeks either side of half term. We visited skill zone last term and last week we went to the Museum in the Park in Stroud to find out about the changes that happened in Stroud during the industrial revolution. Check out the pictures below
Monday 21st October 2024
In Year 5 we have been doing a science experiment, growing our own spider plants. Below are our first pictures. We will be observing how they grow over the next few months. In Maths we have been looking at multiples this week, next week we are looking at factors. In our writing we have been writing persuasions to stop deforestation (after our assembly we thought it was a really important part of our topic). On Friday we are off to SKillZone. It should be a really great morning.
Monday 7th October 2024
We have been super busy in Year 5. We have been visited by some students and teachers from Stroud High school who have done some science activities with us for the last couple of weeks. They will be joining us most Wednesdays in October and November before we visit them at the end of November for a festival of learning. We have also been writing some really interesting newspaper reports about the children from our book being stranded in the Rainforest.
This Friday we have our class assembly, we really hope you can join us to see how hard we have been working!
Wednesday 18th September 2024
What a fantastic start to Year 5 we have all had. We have started reading our book, The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, and have been doing lots of topic work based on the book. You can see all the work we will be doing this term below.
We have been busy doing some writing about what it is like in the Rainforest, what we would need to help us survive and some letters to get people to rescue us!
